Robert passed away on March 5. A structural engineer, he was principal designer for highway and railroad throughout the Northeast, and was project manager for a section of Boston’s “Big Dig.”
From childhood, he enjoyed boats. During summers, he sailed as an Ordinary Seaman in the Merchant Marine, and for many years held a USCG 50-Ton Master’s License. After a series of small boats, power and sail, he bought a cruising sailboat, and for the next 40 years he and wife Phyllis sailed the of New England and Nova Scotia coasts. A member of Cabadetis Boat Club in Round Pond, he was commodore in 2009 and 2010. Following 9/11, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, for which he was flotilla commander at CG Station Boothbay Harbor in 2008 and 2009.
