Fall in Boston Harbor

P1040121Sandy and I moved my boat yesterday from summer quarters in Winthrop Harbor to winter quarters at Constitution Marina in Charleston. There were maybe a half-dozen boats in Boston Harbor enjoying the spring weather and the good breeze. Most of those we saw were sailing with just a main or just a jib, or reefed. This guy (pictured), either doesn’t believe in reefing or maybe has a main that can’t be reefed. Consequently, he was kept busy fighting to keep the boat from rounding up. But he was moving right along. On my boat we used only the main … because I had already removed the jib and bagged it. Even so, we mostly were tooling along at 4-5kts. It was strictly shirtsleeve and sunblock weather.
