Season’s greetings from Newbury, Mass.

Contributor Dan Raycroft sent us this photo taken last week from the Pert Lowell Company on the Parker River in Newbury, Mass. On the left is Ralph Johnson, owner of the Pert Lowell Company. To his right is one of his shop workers Al Cox. The two were setting up the company Christmas tree on the front lawn.

Dan writes:

The boatyard is all wrapped up for the winter. The “PLC” is best known for building and repairing small boats as well as various wooden wooden parts. The Town Class sloop (Townie) has been built here since 1932. This is shop is also well known among the Schooner Fleet as the producer of mast hoops.

This is where I store my boats and my mooring is right out front. I’ve been a customer here for better than forty years which makes me their longest standing customer.
