Patricia (Brophy) Raffa, 68

After months of battling cancer, Patricia passed away on January 8. Patty was the beloved daughter of the late Leonard V. and Jean F. (Brickley) Brophy. Patty graduated from The Academy of Sacred Hearts, Fall River, Mass., and later, Towson State College. For over 40 years, she worked in commercial lending, retiring in 2018.

She is survived by her siblings, Lt. Col. Mark L. Brophy, U.S.M.C. (Ret.), his wife Arlene, Maureen B. Tholander, and her husband Stephen, Leonard V. Brophy Jr., Stephen F. Brophy and his wife Christina, and Mary Brady. She was the loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

Patty was the former wife of Paul T. Raffa. Patty grew up on Seaview Avenue, Swansea, Mass., where she first learned to swim and sail on Coles River, beginning her lifetime love of swimming, boating and especially sailing. Patty was a member of Wickford Yacht Club for many years, where she and her husband Paul enjoyed spending time with fellow boating friends. Patty loved her many dogs over the years: Heidi, Mickey, Homer and D.B. Her family extends their gratitude and thanks to the nurses and staff of South Kingstown Nursing Rehabilitation and Nursing Placement Hospice and Palliative Care.
