Aaron Meadow, 46

Larchmont, N.Y.

A warm, caring and open-hearted brother, son, uncle, friend, and experienced sailor — who brought light into this world (literally and figuratively) – passed away due to a sailing accident while visiting San Francisco Bay over the summer. Aaron was a respected and accomplished professional lighting designer with numerous credits in theater and dance.

A passionate sailor, Aaron crewed on numerous racing and cruising boats out of City Island and New York City, Westchester County and Connecticut, often racing several evenings a week and on the weekends. Aaron was also a regular volunteer for the South Street Seaport Maritime Museum, as crew for the 1885 schooner Pioneer. In recognition of his service as a dedicated and steady shipmate, the South Street Seaport lowered flags in New York Harbor to half-mast to acknowledge the great loss.

He served as a lighting director for the sports news website Bleacher Report and for the YES (Yankee Entertainment Sports) Network studio, and he was involved with exhibit lighting at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City, South Street Seaport Tree Lighting Ceremony 2014, and Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis in 2012.
