George died on July 11. Both he and his wife Elizabeth were avid sailors and longtime members of the East Greenwich (R.I.) Yacht Club. They raced Wake with the Twenty Hundred Club, and sailed with the Narragansett Bay Non-Such Association, of which he was a former president. He had a lifelong interest in scouting and was a member of the Explorer Scouts Post 449 “Last Resort.”
George, his family and his friends enjoyed time in their Block Island home. George was a 13-year board member of the Block Island Health Services, and a former member of the Committee for Great Salt Pond. He was a longtime member of the Jamestown Penguin Club. He enjoyed RVing with the R.I. Winnies.
