This is Jody Wolford-Tucker, HVHC Executive Director, sharing a brief message to convey our gratitude that the Hospice Regatta of Maine has been able to set sail this year!
While the safety needs of the pandemic have required we hold no land events or our customary post-race celebrations, our partners at the MDI Community Sailing Center and the Northeast Harbor Fleet jumped right in and offered to make the necessary changes and hold the Hospice Regatta races safely this weekend, July 10, 11 and 12.
Our major sponsors have continued their commitment this year as well, so the crucial support provided by this annual event continues to help us reach those who need our care – patients with life-limiting illness, their families and caregivers, and those who are grieving. We couldn’t do it without the support of our community.
And, as today’s races are getting ready to start, we’ve heard a lot about the weather, but our intrepid sailors are unstoppable. Franny Charles, Race Director, said this a.m.: Nice breezes. Everyone will have a blast.
There are many posts about this year’s Hospice Regatta from yesterday on our facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Hospice-Volunteers-of-Hancock-County-126296617385597/
and there will be many more today with photos, sponsor recognition, even some sailing-themed music – join us for the fun throughout the day.
Check our website at https://hospiceofhancock.org/regatta/ to take note of this year’s Hospice Regatta sponsors, and let them know that you appreciate their commitment to free, independent volunteer hospice. You may join our sponsors as a supporter at any level through that site as well. Thank you for being part of our circle of caring.
Best wishes, and stay safe and healthy out there!
Jody
