July 23-27   The Corinthians Stonington to Boothbay Harbor Race
Starting is off Stonington, Conn., competitors will round Nantucket Shoals buoys and finish at Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Course length: 332 nautical miles. A “navigator’s race,” with choice of passing north or south of Block Island, and similar decision at Squirrel Island near finish. a US Sailing sanctioned Category 2 event, with ORR and PHRF spinnaker divisions. This is a rendezvous for traditional small rowing and sailing craft on the scenic coast of Maine. In general, we will sail (or row) in the waters of Frenchman Bay, east of Mount Desert Island. We plan an arrival at Lamoine State Park, which is about 10 miles east of Ellsworth, Maine, on Wednesday, July 28. We will sail on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, including a public sail-by on Saturday afternoon.

July 30   3-Day Tall Ship Adventure
The South Carolina Maritime Foundation is offering a three-day, two-night sail aboard the traditional tall ship, Spirit of South Carolina from Boston, MA from Friday, July 30 through Sunday, August 1. If weather permits the ship will sail through Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary to Provincetown, MA; an alternate destination is Gloucester, MA. This adults-only sail for 20 people offers lessons on local ecology, seamanship and history taught by professional educators along with the chance to whale watch and take a turn at the helm, handle sails and stand watch while learning how this 140-foot wooden ship operates.

Aug. 28, 29   Haverhill River Run
The Haverhill River Run 2010 is an American Power Boat Association nationally sanctioned event. Hydroplane and Runabouts will race on the Merrimack River. The races are sponsored by the South Shore Outboard Association and the Crescent Yacht Club. The event take place just above the last navigation buoys upriver on the Merrimack River. Sixty five boats competed in twelve different classes - 24 races a day. Over eighty racers are expected this year with the event featuring the Northeast Divisional Marathon Championship Race on Saturday.

Aug 28-29   Haverhill River Run 2010
The Haverhill River Run 2010 is an American Power Boat Association nationally sanctioned event. Hydroplane and Runabouts will race on the Merrimack River in Haverhill, MA. The races are sponsored by the South Shore Outboard Association and the Crescent Yacht Club. The event take place just beyond the last navigation buoys upriver on the Merrimack River. Last year, 65 boats competed in 12 different classes - 24 races a day. More racers are expected this year with the event hosting the only Marathon Race in New England. Racers will launch at the Yacht Club. Spectators can view the races from the Crescent Yacht Club at 30 Ferry Street or the Buttonwood Trail on the opposite side of the river. The Yacht Club will hold a cook out open to spectators and participants.

Nov. 3 - 6   Marine Service Management Course
The American Boat Builders & Repairers Association (ABBRA), in partnership with the Marine Systems Training Center (MSTC), is offering the popular Marine Service Management (MSM) course in November, at the MSTC in Thomaston, Maine. This class caters specifically to professionals in boatyards and marine service and repair centers. ABBRA’s expert instructors present MSM participants with pointers in such nontechnical topics as human-resource development, financial controls, customer relations, codes and standards, marketing and sales, and more. The MSM is also a prerequisite to obtain ABBRA’s Certified Marine Service Manager designation, the only credential of its kind in the marine industry.
